As previously mentioned jadeite and nephrite are thought by many to have protective and healing powers. With regard to its healing powers, it is believed by various cultures throughout the world that these stones are useful for treating kidney, blood pressure, a headache symptoms to name a few.

Other healing energy and healing properties pertaining to jade correspond to the various gemstone colors. For instance a blue stone reportedly aids the user or wearer in relaxation during meditative practices and red helps to relieve tension.

Whatever the color though jade is known throughout the world for its healing, protective, and spiritual qualities. Because of this, protection amulets are frequently made from various colors of this semi-precious stone.

The stones are typically carved with symbolic carvings of deities, spirits and sacred symbols like the swastika or Om symbol. Because of the combination of the protective qualities of the gemstone and those of the symbolic carving, the wearer of the protection amulet gets a sort of "double whammy" of protection.

Aside from the protective qualities of the stone, and the symbolic carvings; these amulets are often blessed by various Buddhist clergy members. There are many Buddhist protection amulets available that have been blessed by Thai Buddhist monks, Tibetan Buddhist monks and other clergy men and women.

In addition to jade, protective amulets are frequently made of other materials including: copper, brass, bronze, wood, gold, silver, and other precious and semi-precious stones and metals.
